My REVIEWS

Category:Music
Genre: Hard Rock & Metal
Artist:Dream Theater
First the bad part, I have been to a few rock gigs at Esplanade, the old Harbour Pavillion, Expo, Fort Canning, Pasir Ris Marquee etc.. but none had a form of security checks like the Indoor Stadium. Its worse than entering back Singapore from Johor Bahru. You have to dig out all your stuffs, and subject yourself to a detailed body scan using some hand held device. The most pathetic thing I saw was this Chinese guy in long sleeved. I think he was from his office, and the security guy even touch his sleeve's cuff or whatever it is? isnt that pathetic? its just a bloody rock concert, I wonder, if its a piano show, or a saxophone show, will the security perform this level of checks? I dont think so.... ok ok enough of the negativeness.

So the ticket says the show will began at 8pm, but no...... the lights are on, the audience are still streaming in and moving about. I have a nice seat by myself, and I think I like it this way better, I can enjoy the show without distractions LOL!! go to the gig with friends, split up during the show, and get back together after the show. The audience has a lot of the Chinese ethnic group, and also what seems to be a contigent of Indonesian fans wearing some previous Indonesian tour tshirt printed with the cool - WHEN DREAM THEATER AND INDONESIA UNITES!!". I really love the words.
The Indoor stadium is huge, but the tickets for this show I think is limited to 3000 and I think its near to sold out.
The stage set is very simple.
At 9 the lights when out and the show starts.

So here is the setlist, with the duration and the album from which the songs came from. I managed to get a recording of it except for one bloody song, my md is spoilt :-(

1. The Root of All Evil "8:45 mins - Octavarium 2005
2. Panic Attack "7:11 mins - Octavarium 2005
3. A Fortune in Lies "5:15 mins - When Dream and Day Unite 1989
4. Under a Glass Moon "8:18 mins - Images and Words 1992
5. Lie "6:54 mins - Awake 1994
6. Peruvian Skies/Wherever I May Roam "10:37 mins - Falling Into Infinity 1997
7. Strange Deja Vu "5:14 mins - Scenes From a Memory 1999
8. Through My Words "1:08 mins - Scenes From a Memory 1999/
9. Fatal Tragedy "6:48 mins - Scenes From a Memory 1999
10. Solitary Shell "5:29 mins - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence 2002
11. About To Crash (reprise) "4:15 mins - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence 2002
12. Losing Time / Grand Finale "5:35 mins - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence 2002
- 15 minutes intermission -
13. As I Am "7:27 mins - Train of Thought 2003
14. Endless Sacrifice "10mins aprox. - Train of Thought 2003
15. I Walk Beside You "4:59 mins - Octavarium 2005
16. Sacrified Sons "10:38 mins - Octavarium 2005
17. Octavarium "28:43 mins- Octavarium 2005
- encore -
18. The Spirit Carries On "9:41 mins - Scenes From a Memory 1999
19. Pull Me Under "5:25 mins - Images and Words 1992/
20. Metropolis Part 1 "10:00 mins - Images and Words 1992

A wholesome three hours of magic!!!

The sound at the start is bad, the vocals are not clear, the drums sound did not stand out.

Hightlights -
THE WHOLE SHOW!!! Every single song.
Super Highlights -
1 - The melodic line from The Root Of All Evil which is similar to This Dying Soul.
2 - When the singer says that -"at last...." they are in Singapore.
3. The keyboards intro to Peruvian Skies is nice and so touching. The ending with Metallica's Wherever I May Roam is even nicer..
4. Strange Deja - Vu . 'kin hell. I think Scenes From A Memory is an album I got to recheck again. It seems I am more and more really into the songs from this album. Note to myself - I have to buy the Scenes From New York live triple cd asap.
5. Through My Words/Fatal Tragedy - The beginning sentimental parts are so sweet and beautiful. Fatal Tragedy has such a commercial chorus.
6. Solitary Shell - A song which suits children's nursery schools, old folks homes, and everywhere and anywhere... Very ear-friendly song LOL!!!.
7. I Walk Besides You - If this song is done by Hoostabank, this will be the pop single of the year.. Unfortunately its Dream Theater. The most catchy and love sounding chorus ever.
8. Octavarium.. I heard the studio version once, 24 mins long. I forget about it after that. But now I am listening to the live version again and again..And I begin to like this song. Not an epic like Maiden long songs, but still very good song..with very sweet keyboards.
9. THE ENCORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they had played Hollow Years, I think I nearly would cry, but My Spirit Carries On is another tear jerker. It is played so beautifully.
Pull Me Under .. the most popular DT song ever I think.
Metropolis part One, there was a stop at the middle, and then the band restarts again...awesome.

For me Dream Theater is a band that I dont really fancy when I listen to their studio albums. Its boring at parts although they have really some seriously great songs and moments..... but live they are 100% so magnificient.
Worth the ticket prices no matter how much you pay.
The final show of this tour at New York next month will be recorded for an official live cd and dvd. If only I can choose the setlist for that show LOL!!
Go and get those.. This tour has been fantastic...

$25 bought at Funan. Comes with a superb packaging complete with a 16 page full color booklet. Besides the dvd, there is an additional cd featuring the audio of the same concert, with an addition of one song.

J-O-U-R-N-E-Y. Who have listened to Journey and doesn’t like them?
They have songs for everyone. Heavy , faster ones, and also beautiful slow ballads, I think they are one of my top 10 favourite bands of all time.
The band is still around now, but minus Steve Perry. I have listened to some of their newer songs and live versions of old songs, they sound great, the new singer Steve Augerli ( don’t know the spelling ) sounds like a Steve Perry clone, but the old Journey during their pop-rock era of the 80s are still the best.

This is a dvd taken from some long lost footage in the early days of MTV.
Seems this is one of the first live concerts recorded for MTV broadcast back in early 1982. Some portions of this concert were available in some Journey cd and dvd best of compilation, but this is the first time the whole complete broadcast is available.
The former singer Steve Perry produced this dvd but seems the official Journey website did not mention this dvd production at all.
Setlist
1. Escape
2. Line of Fire
3. Lights
4. Stay Awhile
5. Open Arms
6. Mother , Father
7. Jonathan Cain Solo
8. Who’s Crying Now
9. Where Where You
10. Steve Smith Solo
11. Dead or Alive
12. Don’t Stop Believin
13. Stone In Love
14. Keep on Runnin
15. Neal Schon Solo
16. Wheel In The Sky
17. Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin
18. Anyway You Want It
19. The Party’s Over ( CD only )

Bonus DVD Chapters includes
1. 10 minutes of interviews with various Journey members in 1981.
2. Some old tv promos in 1981 of the Escape album
3. Some bits of the original MTV broadcast ending.

Highlights –
For the price, this special collectors edition is really worth the money.
Its sort of like a history lesson, nostalgic even. 1981- the dressing, the coolness of wearing jeans high up LOL!!. Wearing white Nike shoes with that red color swoosh. The colourful colours. When the camera pans to the audience, they look so happiy without any worries.
The cameras time are fairly divided for each band member. The most important thing is that unlike present video concerts where it gets all artistic with fast cuts, on this dvd, the camera remains on each member of the band for some time. So you can enjoy them better. I really like in when it focus on the drummer.
Hightlights
- One of my favourite back to back songs of all time. LIGHTS and STAY AWHILE back to back, merging into one five fantastic minutes. There is another version available on Journey’s Live Greatest Hits, and to finally see how this two songs is sort of merged is really something.
- Open Arms – This song is so slow and a bit gay, but I still like it. Only Steve Perry can sing this song. Mariah Carey sucks on this song, she isn’t good enough to cover this song.
- Mother Father – Very dramatic song
- Steve Smith Solo – I really like this guy’s drumming. His drumming on the song Open Arms is very catchy.
- Don’t Stop Believing – Absolutely a super song. Its perfect.
- The crowd is so loud. Seems they have microphones on the crowd.
- Everything else on this dvd.

I cant find any cons for this edition. If you expect a super high crystal clear dvd footage, you wont find it here, but if you are looking for a fantastic live performance from one of the best pop-rock bands of all time, recorded back in 1981 where I guess the world was a much happier and trouble-free period, you will get it here.
If you can find this collector’s edition at the price I quote. Just buy it.

Now I am hoping for more old footages of Journey digged out from some mines, cleaned and released on dvds. I have seen a bootleg footage of the 1984 Live in Budokan Japan footage. Now that is a proper dvd concert I hope to see. That includes songs from Frontiers - a really good Journey album.

Live VCD paling best. Sapa minat May pegi beli. Sapa pernah dengar lagu May pergi beli jugak. Sapa tak pernah dengar May pun, aku rasa kalau beli, tak menyesal.
Kualiti dia baik, memandangkan aku tak rasa ni high-budget punye production, Kamera angles, mungkin dalam 5 atau 6. Smua posisi best dan dekat ngan band.
Bunyi pun clear.
Ni rakaman dari persembahan May di Planet Hollywood KL bulan September 2005. Dua kali May perform kat sana, dan ni malam kedua. Ramai orang jugak, semua nampak sah peminat May, pasal dorang tahu sing a long lagu2 May.

Highlights banyak... Terutama lagu2 lama, Pelayaran, Graffiti, Dari kacamata dan jugak tak lupa Mai Pen Rai dan Sinar.
Unplugged segment best la, tak sangka lagu Gadis Bertudung Putih main unplugged makin laju dan lagi best.
Artis jemputan - Yantzen Rusty Blade. Yantzen ni pun pernah jadi vokalis May jugak... tapi heran la pada aku.. M - A - Y .

Anyway aku rasa lepas ni aku nak tangkap live cd dari ni show jugak. Its really that good. beli ah korang....aku tak bedek, ni best giler.

ReviewReviewReviewReviewReviewManowar - HELL ON EARTH part IV dvd ( 25/12/05)Dec 25, '05 12:45 AM
for everyone
Category:Music
Genre: Hard Rock & Metal
Artist:Manowar
" No other band can do that kind of DVD " says one of the reviews at backcover of this luxurious dvd packaging. I completely agree.
This DVD has it all, and if you are a Manowar fan, this dvd is beyond stupendous. I dont know whether the ( long awaited to be released 2006 February ) new Iron Maiden "Death On The Road" dvd can top this.
So how do I begin this review?
ok firstly, there are 2 dvd discs and 1 audio cd.
The three discs are packaged in a boxset which has multiple full color panels and there is a full color 12 page booklet inclusive.

DVD 1 - the main program is about 2 hours long. It features Manowar live in concert from their 2002 Warriors Of The World Tour and also clips of their fans, backstage shots, preparations and lots more.
I first discovered Manowar in 1989 and love them since, but to see this DVD, it is beyond words how they play live. I have known of the European fans dedication but this is really spellbounding, the fans response are so incredible and the fans are really into it. I think Manowar have the second greatest fans in the world. Maiden will always be number 1. LOL!!
What is fascinating about this dvd is how much time the production team must have taken to edit all the shots. There must have been hundreds of video footages to be edited. No wonder it takes so long to get this dvd released.
Firstly all the live performances have so many multiple camera angles of not just the band members, but the audience. I wonder how many cameras were used during recording.
The editing team really did a fantastic job by getting the essence just right. The use of multiple screens effect really works, because there so much to see when Manowar is performing. Each band member doing their stuff, and not forgetting the crowd who knows all the words and getting into each song. Seeing the cameras zooming to the crowds singing along to the songs and enjoying themselves is as necessary as watching Manowar themselves. ( How I wish I can see Manowar live myself, it would be a dream come true ).
On top of that, the crowd and travelling scene is fantastic because Manowar seems to brought their camera crews to dozens of concerts thru out Europe, and you can see footages of different concert locations in many different countries.
The picture quality is very good, while the sound is as usual powerful. I am just using an old television to view this dvd, and the sound quality is the same old Manowar standard, very very loud but clear.

So here is whats on dvd 1.
Full version songs of Kings Of Metal, Brothers Of Metal,
American Trilogy - this is from some kind of a special performance complete with a choir and an orchestra with Joey DeMaio doing the conducting.
I Believe, Call to Arms, Spirit Horse of Cherokee, House of Death, Outlaw, plus exerpts from other songs, and also there is my most favourite part of the dvd, where Manowar played accoustic for the three beautiful songs Swords In the Wind, Courage and the most romantic song Manowar had ever done Master Of the Wind. I think I cried seeing Master of the Wind being played, the sweetest song for me LOL!!.
Then you have all the clips and footages of the fans including their tshirts and tattoos and other things. Their devotion is for real.

And!!!.. on top of all these, you will have three seperate audio commentaries done by Manowar as a band, by Joey DeMaio only and also by the dvd director.
Plus - you have the bonus program about 30 minutes long featuring the guitar solos of Karl Logan, the bass solo of Joey DeMaio ( this is really spectacular ), and other fantastic footages.
Also, I believe there are about 10 different European languages supporting the subtitiles.
How can any other music dvd top up this latest Manowar release?

And its all just on dvd disc one LOL!!!

Disc two is about 90 minutes long, it has all the tv broadcast that Manowar took part in, Manowar seems to be more mainstream now appearing on regular tv programs in parts of Europe and there is this portion showing the interviews with the different members of the road crew.
You should see the interviews with the front of the stage sound man. Its terrifying how much work he has to do each night when Manowar is on stage, he even have to have an assistant to assist him. Being the loudest band in the world, there is interviews and footages of how the crew handles with speakers and sound problems. The part where they describe the wind effect that Manowar produces while on stage is scary. I wonder how it feels like standing right in front during Manowar's show, it must be windy and ear shattering for sure.
Again dvd 2 has all the audio commentaries.
And also, I believe there are Easter eggs to be searched.

This dvd is really a must have for all Manowar fans. Trust me, its really that good.

Oh, before I forget, the third disc contains a previously unreleased song. I guess this must be for a future album release. Its called King of Kings. Very fast, very Manowarish, a mixture of Outlaw, Power and When God Made Heavy Metal kind of song.

So thats about it, Manowar the kings of Metal.
Yes, they really are. I have love them since 1989, people may laugh at their image, scorn at their music, thinking they are evil people, but I think Manowar really write many good songs, and their music is 1st class.
They really have a wonderful rapport with the fans, they are doing it for the music, hell I am wondering how much money Manowar spend producing this dvd and whether they have anything left. This dvd itself shows how much the fans mean to Manowar, nothing but always the best.

Buy this, buy this, buy this.

Genre: Nonfiction
Author:Geoffrey Abbott
Firstly a bit on the author. Mr Geoffrey Abbott was a Yeoman Warder at the Tower Of London. I guess this job gave him a lot of insight into history especially of the more terrifying kind.
The inside cover of this book reads " A mixture of bungled executions, strange last requests and classic final one-liners from medieval times to the present day ".

How true. A hard cover book of 239 pages with artworks giving clearer descriptions of each situation where possible. The English language used in this book is simple and this makes an extra pleasure to read it smoothly.

Most of the stories here are taken from archieves, libraries, old newspapers, old journals and leads back to the 17th and 18th century, up to some stories from the 20th century. Some of the executions described are hanging, decapitation by axe, sword, electric chair, firing squad, gas chambers and some medieval executions like " breaking on the wheel " , which is basically tying a man spread eagled on a wheel and the executioner use a huge metal stick to hit hard on various joints of the body, so that at the end of the execution, the condemned man will basically be like a rag doll as all his joints are smashed to pieces.

Most of the stories are horrific and sad. Tales of how the hanging can go wrong in Britain where not only is the neck of the condemned broken but the whole head is ripped from the body. Tales especially from France of the Guillotine where men and women have their head decapitated and detailed descriptions of what goes on during that time, tales where the chopped-off head has its eyes blinking or the mouth moving as if to speak.
Horrible tales of execution thru the electric chairs , lethal injections and gas chambers in America, and these includes what the condemned have for their last meal.
Especially sad are those tales where the condemned goes thru unnecessary extra torture, especially those who are supposed to be burned at the stake, but unfortunately, the wind blows the flame away from the burnt person, so he or she died slowly in small flames. Tales where last minute reprieves were not delivered on time.

There are also tales about the public who attend the execution.
An interesting tale is from somewhere in the 17th century England, where about 20,000 people gathered to watch an execution. It ends up with everyone going thru a crush and about 100 men , women and children died due to stampade and suffocation.
Some happy endings are also described, where the crowd freed the condemned whom they think is innocent, and beat up the executioner and public officials.
There are also some unnatural happenings describe, such as men who are presumed dead after hanging, waking up and being alive.

For me, the saddest must be the hanging of 38 Red Indian warriors by the White people during the American Civil War. It describe how these 38 Red Indians prepare to be executed by doing their dance and motivating each other before they were hanged together at the same time.
All in all. This is a good read. I love it.

k smalam aku pegi...., aku cakap eh, except for Bhumiband, the whole show is awesome. Non stop over 4 hours... Worth it la, aku bayar tiket $40 ketul duduk kat esplenet for 4 hrs of rock melayu

Seating - Wooo best nye seating, walaupun kita beli tiket harga paling murah , tapi since kita semua beli on the first day, kita dapat the best seats possible untuk seat murah la, and seats depan kita semua two rows kosong, the more expensive seats tak sold out, so kita ada clear view of the stage...
WOOOO!!!!!! Aku lagi exact center wooo....

Sambutan - Alrite la, maybe 90% sold out la....tiket murah i think semua sold out la. Makcik pakcik, families , and of course semua abang2 rockers, even mat rock mat rock dari Johor semua turun ah!!.

Disiplin - Havoc wa cakap lu!! Aku agak ushers and management Esplenet mesti pleasant surprise pasal the whole show is happening...
And oh yes!! Aku rasa dalam sejarah Esplenet... First Time In History, a performer or group of performers kena Booed of the stage . Bhumiband , and they deserve it... Bhumiband sucks.
Aku boo paling kuat ah!! wakakakakaka...more of that later.

K, so show dia start before kul 8 la..

Suhaimi Yusof, Seri Wahyuni & Hafeez Glamer.
Suhaimi Yusof and Hafeez Glamour pakai wig rambut panjang...
Hafeez nye alrite...tapi Suhaimi nye wig, is cam those kering2 nye, dah tu cam rusty colour gitu... So is very kelakar tau, cam rock ada cam mak nyah pun ada
Then Suhaimi everytime keluar, rambut tukar fesyen, ada satu tu dia buat pigtails dua sey...then the rambut is kering, so cam very the kelakar la
Then Seri Wahyuni was wearing cam Tina Turner nye wig la....wooo dahsyat woo Seri Wahyuni, jeans ketat rabak weiii....
She acts like a rock virgin la, first time jadi rockers so she act so blur gitu, ada satu part tu sudah joget Inul siot
So dorang will come out lots of times the whole night la.....
After every change of artist kan, dorang come out and buat kelakar...Aku rasa untuk buy time bands tukar equipment dan jugak introduce the acts to follow.

So its very riot sey dorang tiga, aku tarik balik aku cakap aku tak suka Hafeez Glamer...
Dorang berbual tak ikut skrip, then dorang berbual cara rockers, takde disiplin. Dorang sendiri cakap " Ni malam show bukan untuk TV, so semua pun alrite ", so dorang berbual eh....makdatok, all the words ganas cam lu, gua, biol, bodoh, and all the words mat rock guna as normal words la.
and it gets so funny pasal dorang betul2 natural la, cam kita berbual kat kedai kopi semua rebut2 nak cakap and tak pedulik...

then dorang keluar total of 7 times ah to create atmosphere
So one time to Seri Wahyuni keluar dia cam buat public apology ah!!
" Wa nak mintak maaf kat semua ah, wa tak tahu tadi wa cakap tu perkataan kotor, wa dengar rockers semua cakap, wa ikut je la , wa rockers bodoh la "
so suhaimi jawab " eh lu jangan salah kan rock eh, lu memang bodoh!!'
pasal tak salah aku Seri ada part cakap " Wa sua berpeluh pelir ah "
Aku rasa this word yang dia mintak maaf, pasal others memang semua brutal tapi nothing wrong pe.....

K sambung eh.....

revieww konsert rock esplenet part 2

hah nanti aku ceta pasal Hafez , suhaimi yusop and seri wahyuni lagi kejap...

So first band for the night -

Reeha .. ni band Rosli Mohalim ( sweet charity ). FUAD is the vocalist...

Aku rasa eh, kalo satu stage, taruk FUAD ngan Taufik , mesti happening ah.. FUAD is good, all the while eh aku cuma tahu dia tu mamat anugerah nyanyi lagu mentel je..., smalam dia sua bawak lagu rock omputeh, dahsyat wooo FUAD, he is really really good.

ok - Reeha main tiga lagu
- Rock N Roll ( Led Zeppelin )
- Burn ( deep purple )
- inside looking out ( GFR )

I love their performance, smua orang suka ah!!! Betul2 nye best nye opener.

Second band for the night

SIXTYNINE
dorang main tiga lagu jugak....boleh la aku enjoy jugak,
One of the songs dorang bawak is Penunggu - lagu Sweet Charity.

Third and the only horrible and distasteful band for the night..

BHUMIBAND

ok la eh, mungkin Bhumiband ni as good as Sheila on 7 ke, Dewa ke, Peter Pan ke, aku tak pedulik, tapi dorang betul2 sucks semalam.
Bhumiband apa sey dorang buat kat konsert ni?? Nak tarik orang beli tiket? lebih bagus panggil Taufik datang , at least Taufik seribu kali bagus.
And the worst thing is, dorang main 5 lagu.. LIMA??? why why why???
First two songs orang masih boleh endure dorang nye lagu2 mentel.
3rd song, dorang bawak lagu Lefthanded " SERUAN "...
And I tell you guys, Bhumiband is the only band yang ada dua penyanyi, and both sucks... Dorang nak pekik cam Nash tapi dua2 pecah!! Malu siot if this is a Anugerah Planet Music winner
Smalam, the only two singers yang really memalukan Esplenet as a worldclass stage both comes from Bhumiband.

Bhumiband was booed off the stage by me, and deservely so

Forth band for the night
AEGYPTIE

Dorang perform tiga lagu... After every song, penyanyi dia tarik2 nafas teruk siot, sampai kena usik ngan audience " Mat , lu semput ke mat??"
Then penyanyi tu jawab " Pancit ah!!"
Last song, dorang bawak lagu Bumiputra Rockers " Dajal ".., Smua orang gives positive respon kat band ni ah.

kengkawan check this band out, budak2 spore.

Fifth and final warm up band before Semangat Zaman nye musicians and singers
TRIBE...

Ni Tribe ni ramai orang sokong eh? Mungkin pasal dorang really good, and maybe sporeans semua support them and proud of them...
tapi dorang professional ah... Aku tak suka sangat style rock dorang, tapi dorang is really really good main live.. Betul2 entertaining...

Ooo lupa, Tribe dah tukar bassist smalam introduce new member...
Tribe main 4 lagu...
Aku berkenan ah lagu Tribe nombor 3 smalam, hari ni aku dengar sey lagu tu lagi, lagu slow aje...

Review Konsert rock kat Espelenet part 3

So nanti kejap aku ingat2 lagi pasal Suhaimi, Hafeez ngan Seri..

hah ada satu part...

Suhaimi sudah make joke pasal ELLA

Dia sua ketawa kan Ella la....

Suhaimi ceta, dulu2 dia pernah nengok Ella perform konsert....
So dia cakap ada part tu , Ella nak mesra2 ngan audience la...
So Ella pegi kat depan stage...Ella cakap

" ARE YOU ENJOY??"

English pecah siot....
Then Suhaimi cakap la dia terus semput ah, nak pegi carik pump semput

satu espelenet ketawa ah, pasal joke Ella ni, then the whole night dorang tiga keep joking tau.. - Are you enjoy??
Balik pun kawan aku smua dah start pakai ni words jugak...

Kesian Ella kena ketawa smalam, tapi aku suka ella...

Then Suhaimi ni smalam dia ada buat silap kelakar sey...

Dia cakap ah...Henpon tak mau ganggu, memang la sana reception henpon kena block, tapi suhaimi still remind...
then agak dorang tiga syok sangat berbual...
Suhaimi cakap " Henpon tu semua, tukar pegi vibrator eh, hah ingat vibrator!" then skali tu dia realise dia sua salah cakap " ooo maaf maaf, vibration "
Ni show konpem takkan keluar tv punye la....

Then the 3 host very sporting ah, turun kat audience, pasal the sound system is very good sey, Dorang pegi sampai kat belakang, the sound tak lari sey... Dorang dah pick the audience nyanyi2 lagu 80an...
Suhaimi buat kelakar ah...tanya mat rock rambut panjang, pakai shampoo apa la ..
Some of the audience really good singers la, bila dimintak volunteer nyanyi a bit, ada two guys eh, suara sedap siot, satu budak nyanyi lagi rusty blade, satu lagu BPR...

then dorang tiga ceta2 ah pasal zaman2 dulu, primary school secondary school, rambut ding dong, rambut bunga, diri kangkang kangkang cam rocker la, how the term rock and rock n roll comes about
So according to dorang tiga ni, semua ni datang dari makcik2....

so cam mat rock is cam makcik rokiah, rokinah kena panggil Mak Rok.

Then Rock tu batu belah batu bertangkup la , emak dia kan merajuk2 gitu so pegi kat gua tu kan, so tu la sampai skarang rockers semua pakai Gua.

Then Rock n Roll, pasal Mak Dara, si makcik jahat tu la....
Dia kan kat kubur tu dia pusing2 mintak ampun ngan kassim?
so tu ah, batu nesan tu kan rock, then mak dara roll, jadi rock n roll la...

Kelakar ah
review konsert kat Esplenet part 4

K, this is the actual show yang semua orang nak datang nengok...

Line up album SEMANGAT ZAMAN...

k, mula2 musicians untuk this performance eh....

Man Kidal & Hassan Babylon on guitars.. Hassan ni guitarist untuk Amuk jugak.
Drummer dorang pakai XPDC nye drummer baru.
Bassist got one guy nama Norman
Keyboards ada this lady... lawa woooooo

So starting...

Before aku lupa, apsal semua rockers ni tak tua ah!! semua nampak looks exacltly like dorang dulu2 80s and 90s. Cuma Nash je potong rambut.
Anyway, dorang perform, very very loud ah, lantai bergegar ah.

so starting -
1) Man Kidal main solo instrumental ah.... best siot instrumental solo dia...

2) Then lagu Keadilan Lefthanded start...
Wooo Nash the first to come out....
This is a nice song.... Habis lagu je Nash ngan Man Kidal kasi each other hi five - Long Live Lefthanded

Nash ni banyak berbual la, so ni pun dia berbual2 lagi...Abang2 lobang nye berbual.... Cakap ni 2nd time dia perform kat esplenet la, Sporeans supportive la....
So Nash continue the show...next song?? Wa happy siot!!

3) Ku kehilangan Cinta Tiga Dimensi Lefthanded..

Ni lagu Nash tak payah nyanyi ah, audience nyanyi untuk dia, cuma satu mamat ni buat spoil la...
Nash turun stage, then he shoves the mic at this guy, then this guy the lyrics salah sey.... AIYO!!! spoil the song, lekas2 Nash sambung balik hehee...
Lagu ni wa feberet siot. Lagu rock tangkap termenung nengok kapalterbang kat Terminal One dulu2 ...Nak nangis wa
Then Nash habis je, Nash blah...
Ooo lupa, lagu ni Nash lempar tshirt tshirt satu kat audience...Wa tak dapat ah

4) Next!!
Aris Ariwatan.....terus masuk lagu Sweet Charity... " Musibah "..
wooo best sey dorang perform ni lagu.....
Sound kat esplenet helps a lot kot, ni musicians dah la bagus, sound lak bagus....
Really nice song... Then ada cam interlude, Aris introduce the musicians...
Next song....

5) Lamunan Terhenti...

Alamak, wa betul2 surprised ah.... All the ladies sing along this song siot...
Aku betul2 kagum la...Aku tak berkenan lagu ni slow sangat, tapi nengok live, syok lak....
So ni song cam only keyboards je backing, so again audience did the singing ah.

Then Aris off stage.

Next

6) JOEY BPR!!!
Dia bawak lagu baru dari cd Semangat Zaman, ni lagu best ah
KOTAK HITAM SEJUTA KATA...
Really nice song.....
Abis je lagu Joey sudah speaking omputeh ah, dah kena kutuk ngan audience... Then Joey masuk balik cakap Melayu...

7) Next song.... lagu Sweet Charity lagi - KAMELIA
Joey BPR sings this song...
Kelakar ah, audience nyanyi dulu ah, Joey belum start audience dah start masuk dulu.... Really good performance ah...

Then Joey pegi tepi tapi dia tak off stage, dia ambik satu micropon dan relaks...Ooo dia jadi backing vocals for next singer....

8) Rahim Maarof!! Siot Rahim Maarof ni cam Jefrydin sey....awet muda...
Wa tak bedek, he looks exactly like 80s zaman dia skandal ngan si Ramlah Ram Ahmad Nawab tu
Hensem siot dia, rambut lawa, then body maintain, looks healthy ah...
Dia keluar je ada satu kakak kat audience pekik " I LOVE YOU!!!"

Agak kalo Syed Sobrie yang datang, mau riot siot kakak2 makcik2 ni

pes song " HIPOKRASI"
lagu ni best ah!! I like... Joey backing vocals...

9) Rahim Maarof cakap2 la, perut dia masih maintain la apa la, tapi memang la, dia tak yah tangkap hensem, he really looks good and smart.
Next song..>Rahim Maarof nye lagu baru dari CD Semangat Zaman...
seriously, ni cd is very good!!
Rahim bawak lagu DIAMMU JERITAN A great great love song.

10) Rahim Maarof lagi - Istana Menanti... Aku tak tahu apsal sey, ni semua lagu aku benci tau b4 this pasal slow sangat, tapi main live, lagu ni semua berhantu ah....
Ni lagu best ah...Audience tahu liriks sing along, then ni lagu acapeella tau , so Joey BPR kena usik2 ngan audience la

K, nanti sambung eh, aku buat report ni pasal ni ngah ada racing ah kat TV, F1, Renault dua2 kereta ngah leading nombor satu ngan dua.... bagus siot Renault...

review konsert kat esplenet Last Kopek

Then.... next artist...
YANTZEN!!!

11) Taming Sari..... best ah dorang bawak ...

12 ) ni song onwards terus aku cam feel sorry untuk Yantzen ah...
Dia cakap la album Semangat Zaman ni, he wrote and sing the song la..
So dia cakap la now dia dah jadi duda, dia ngan kawan2 dia or what la buat Duda's Club bla bla bla cam dia start merapek gitu
Then lagu tu pun sedih je.... " Di Tititan Yang Usang "

13 ) Then Nash masuk stage, so Yantzen ngan Nash ni pun cam borak2 ah...
Then Nash cam give Yantzen hugs la all that....
And then cakap Nash ni jovial, tak lupa bawak anak dia pegi mana2...
Nengok cam giving moral support kat Yantzen siot

Dorang dua bawak lagu Tiada Lagi Kidungmu
I love this song.....Nah and Yantzen perform bagus sey.....
Abis je, Yantzen leave stage

13) Next Joey BPR masuk, join Nash...lagu DARI SINAR MATA

abis, esplenet dah jadi choir ah!! Lagu ni best eh....... lagu jiwang yang best. Cam lagu berbual gitu..

14) Cinta Kristal - Rahim Maarof and Aris Ariwatan...
wooo lagu ni, aku dengar smalam, jadi sedap lak , dulu aku benci betul apa2 yang Rahim Maarof nyanyi..

ALAMAK!!! Kereta Renault satu rosak ah!!! Tapi Fisicheella ah, Alonso masih leading , Ferrari ngah makan asap ah...nombor2 corot

15) Tiada Lagi Aku Rusty Blade
Yantzen and Rahim Maarof..
the lyrics ada tukar ah.....
Yantzen nyanyi penuh perasan sey.... ntah apa dia ingat
Yantzen lu lagi hensem dari orang tu ah!!!! Dan sapa tau hati sapa lagi jujur kan??!!! Orang tu apa ada?? Pangkat, harta dan duit aje!!! Lu lagi best Yantzen!!

Then si tiga tu Suhaimi, Seri , hafeez naik stage lagi, ok dah tak pakai wig...
Dorang say some thank yous, then dorang suruh semua orang diri buat havoc havoc....for last song...
tapi wa duduk ah...malas wa nak diri, tapi semua diri ah.

16) Then Nash, Yantzen, Aris, Rahim Maarof , Joey BPR perform lagu Semangat Zaman....

seriously this song is best la, korang check out this cd ah " SEMANGAT ZAMAN"

Alamak Renault lagi satu pun rosak!! McLaren Montoya ngan Raikomen dua2 ngah leading...
Its ok la, janji bukan Ferrari yang menang

So then after the song...ok abis....dah kul 12 lebih kot....
Aku balik naik NR7...

ooo lupa...aku terserempak satu orang ah kat luar masa aku nak balik...kawan korang, budak sini jugak

wakakaka wa edit sikit ah, nanti wa kena ban lak hehehe....

Lupa nak ceta.... Yantzen pun kepala berdengung sikit...

Then ada la masa perform Man Kidal leave the stage, then kena usik ngan audience dia pegi hisap rokok la, sakit perut pegi toilet la,
Man Kidal kena explain siot , last2 dia cakap tali gitar dia putus

Betul2 fun ah!!... ok thats all....nanti aku ingat apa2 aku ceta lagi....
Alamak, Ferrari michael shcumaker makin laju ah....

Ya, its a good show...
Ala.... Most of the artists are household names you know punye...
And the songs dorang main pun are the songs we grow up with...

Bhumiband memang tak rock langsung... Konsert ngan Inul boleh la.

Aegyptie ni kan...masa konsert smalam, I think tak ramai tahu sapa sey...
Then the penyanyi pun cakap sapa ikut perkembangan dorang? nobody..
then he ask " mana merbok2??" , then ada ada a group of supporters rupanye...
Cam2 sey...Merbok la apa la....

Hah dorang memang hensem mensem , then semalam the singer cakap , dulu dorang 5 orang, then now jadi 4 orang, so smalam dorang main one of their song for the last time..
Tapi at the end of the show, semua orang cheer dorang ah... Dorang memang good.

Myra , aku rekod the whole show ah, sound kira alrite la, nanti aku pass ko satu set.
bagus la!!!! Rock Opera dah power gile kan??
Ni double the power gile!!!!

Lagi ni, semua pakai karen woooo, smua volume maximum ah...
Aku dongak ah, tunggu speaker kat siling tu semua jatuh...
lantai...bergegar ah..boom!! Boom!! boom!!! bass kuat gile...

Aku rasa Ushers Esplenet semua terkejut beruk ah nengok penonton...

Makcik2 semua brutal wooo, keluarkan kamera snap2, then ushers kena pegi dekat2 suruh stop, kesian sey ushers lari sana lari sini tegur2 orang..
eh smalam ada satu joke Suhaimi buat kelakar....

Dorang dah cakap kan, jangan snap gambar, camera or henpon la....

still ada people snap tau... So Seri Wahyuni dah bingit ah!! pot pet pot pet suruh stop.
Sekali tu Suhaimi cakap " eh lu ambik gambar wa ah, susuk wa jatuh la"... lepak sey...

Then Seri kena kutuk pasal cocok Botox la apa la.....
then orang pakai baju merah, kena panggil " loktang "
Then last part Suhaimi pakai baju, kena ketawa baju spiderman, sama sey design ngan baju spiderman

Aku really like their hosting la smalam

Category:Music
Genre: Opera & Vocal
Artist:The Unwanted, Lovehunters, Nash... among others.
So aku sampai City Hall jumpa kawan2 aku, ooo lagi satu kawan pun ikut last minute, tapi ....
rupa2 nya sambutan hebat sey......
kawan aku tu , hari Sabtu tu jugak pagi telepon Sistic , cuma tinggal tingkat 3 aje, tingkat 2 & 1 semua sold out, errrrr ni untuk tiket paling murah la $30.
Nasib baik aku tiket launch je dah gi beli siang2 untuk sapa2 nak pegi.

So kita gi ah Esplanade, waw!! besar sey...
Aku cam V, pelancong Spura, tak tahu jalan....bontot belakang kawan2 aku...

So nak masuk, Alamak, security punya tight... Aku lepas hehehehe....
So ambik buku besar Rock Opera, dalam ada cam2 la, the orang PAP sapa nama tu Dr Maliki writes a few words, then sypnosis about the show and ceta sikit pasal the performers involved..
Wooo buku smua tulis cakap omputeh....
And dallam ada kupon WOrld of Sport $10 voucher. Jadilah

So lepas tu ketawakan kawan aku kena naik tingkat atas hahahaha!!
Tu la, lain kali nak pegi apa2 beli tiket siang sikit

So kita masuk...WAW!! BESARNYE!! CANTIKNYE!! TINGGINYE!!! 10 tingkat kot sampai ke bumbung dia, patut la dari luar esplanade tu besar , tapi dari dalam tak nampak the durian la...tapi structure dia, speakers dia, lampu2 stage light dia nye tinggi...
Aku nengok langsir dia...Aku dah fikir... Langsir Hari Raya aku gantung kat rumah aku dah tak tahan nak bukak posa, sapa gantung langsir Esplanade....Adoi... Pakai helicopter ke dia gantung

So ambik tempat duduk...Kita duk tepi la, leher ke toleh la nak nengok stage, tapi pasal early bird, dekat jugak...Wah!! Full House sey....

Ramai kaum makcik pakcik pakai tudung smua...Keliling aku kecoh la family ni, datang ramai2.....pot pet pot pet...
So kita duk 4 orang, kawan aku ngan wife dia, kawan aku lagi then aku...Sebelah aku minah..So kerusi dah la sempit jugak, then aku kena hensut sikit takkan nak kena minah tu, mak dia lak ada sebelah, then member aku lak badan giant....tercepit aku......

Then aku pun....ehem.......stanby equipment hehehehe....

nanti ah sambung....

8pm, show start....

Ramai orang masih masuk..mungkin smua semayang magrib then dorang naik keta, lambat parking kot ( hehehehe sangka baik ).

So aku dah fikir habis lah orang2 ni, kena diri luar la, tapi UShers kasi masuk jugak,, maybe pasal smua melayu kot...lagipun rock.

So kat stage...Stage dia besar, bertingkat2 tangga gitu la,
On the left ada grand piano...
Atas sikit on the left ada Strings la, violin2 smua...wooo aku kira sedozen kot..
Then sebelah kanan stage, hah ko...Percussion cam nak main kompang Orang kawin, punye ramai....rebana la, all that, about sedozen kot...

Then atas sikit on the right... Ann Hussein , Dia ni malam jadi Choir punya in charge gitu..Then choir dia ada la 10 orang gitu, 4 boi 6 gel.

Then ada tukang main flute all that la...seruling la gitu....

So show start ala...nasib baik aku belum start rekod...ntah hapa2 ntah .. Aku pun tak paham ada mamat2 joget gitu..Stupid betul

Terus ada mamat ni tau, ooo Aku cek Progrem...Nama dia Rafaat...
Ohh...This fellow is the one presenting the Rock Opera Kisah Seniman Story.. So aku ingat dia serious...Skali tu dia kelakar seram la

Dia sudah diri satu orang, sudah cakap sorang2 for 10minits gitu...He will repeat this another 4 times...

So dia pun ceta la, pasal orang melayu all that, content dia meaningful tapi in a humourous way.." berbual style mat rock " then kelakar sey...Dia ceta pasal budak2 sekolah COmmonwealth, pegi Queensway, pegi kedai Apek Botak, kaset $2.50.

Dia punya story line is about dulu2 dia tinggal kampung gitu, jiran dia nama Romli nak jadi Rocker, tapi bapak Romli , Pak Usop ni orang bangsawan.. So habis la Romli punya gitar smua kena pecah ngan bapak dia ( cam pernah dengar je story ni tu hari mueheheheheheh )...

So dia ceta kelakar la....
Pasal seluar corduroy kaler merah.....asyik pakai sampai dah tukar kaler pink .. and all that la, very nice la,
And paling best, mat2 rock kat audience smua layan, smua pekik2, then this Rafaat layan tau...Cam dorang kutuk dia, dia kutuk balik gitu....

Cam orang shout2 balik kat dia , then dia kasi remark " patut la cikgu2 smua kena sakit jantung " lepak siot....

K, so lepas Opera Act 1 si Rafaat ni.. Music pun start ah...

So 1st band is UNWANTED..
So dorang smua duk satu row the Unwanted Musicians, smua accoustic ah, drummer dia just use a portable percussion set gitu..
1st song - MAKDATOK!!!!! Sound punye clear...
Terperangkap Dalam Sinaran... patut la dorang buat kat Esplanade, memang real la.... Hanafie Warren pakai smart sey, cam David Coverdale, si Unwanted punya singer lagi satu, ntah hapa2 la pakai cam Mama Ceti aje...All White gitu, then eiii tak rock langsung...

2nd song - Penyesalan
3rd song - Masih ada Rindu
4th song - Sentuhan Cinta...

Wahh terkenang sey zaman2 dulu bila aku nengok dorang main...
Best ah Unwanted main...Then musicians smua really make is special accoustic show...Strings smua ada choir.

Then habis aje...

Si Rafaat keluar lagi...Sambung Rock Opera dia, dia ceta pasal Labrodor Beach la, aku agak skrip writer dia budak2 West Spore kot... Ceta pasal expo kat Clementi semua... Takde langsung ceta pasal East..

Then habis je ..
LOVEHUNTERS punya turn...hah ko, baru aku tahu actually berapa hebatnye hardcore fans yang aku tak sangka...
Korang tahu, bila Lovehunters ambik place eh...
Kakak pakai tudung boleh kasi komen " Ni Malam Sahar main gitar la "
waw!! ni mesti hardcore...Anak pompuan dia singalong every lyrics beb... Maut sey aku very surprised
So Lovehunters, Yazid nyanyi ah, dia tak main instrument...
1) Ku Ukir Nama Mu
2) Blues Untuk Rakyat - ni last part gerek
3) Berpindah Minda - lagu ni riot la, main accoustik ngan strings pun tetap riot.

Wah!! AKu happy sey...aku dah cakap worth it la aku spend $30 pegi...

Then lepas tu Adik M Nasir lak..Ala si Zoul, aku bukan kenal sangat..so dia perform...satu lagu aje ( nasib baik )
- Celah Gigi.

Then lepas ah lupa nak ceta, kat sebelah choir Ann Husein ada 6 mamat hensem hensem duduk satu row...Ooo dorang smua Wak Kang..Indon mari.
Nama dorang JAMAICA CAFE.
ONe of them, tangan dia cam ada disability gitu...tapi smua suara...makdatok... kecoh beb..
Dorang is sort of acapella so everytime dorang perform, dorang tak pakai muzik, they make all the sound themselves...Talented la,
Dorang main lagu Yezz - Bicara Rindu... Tapi ada style hip hop Rn B gitu la..tapi very good....

SO lepas tu break......Intermission 20 minit...

so then lepas intermission 20 minit...
Rafaat keluar lagi, ni part again he make comedy la , dia pretend main gitar tapi actually Lovehunter punya gitaris baru yang main...

So lepas dia ngan opera dia 10 minit gitu...

Zoul lagi keluar nyanyi " Apakah ini ku bawa pulang "

then lepas tu...FEEEEEWWWWWWWWIIIITTTTTTTTT

Korang tau, pianist tukar orang sey...Then korang tahu the Spore Idol Iskandar Mirza Ismail, the muzik director tu take over...

Wah sey rupanye Nash punye turn...

Korang nengok NASH peform, dapat pianist power nye....

So Nash...Audience yang ada dah kasi standing ovation..

Nash bawak lagu
1) Ku Dihalaman Rindu... siot aku lagi sikit nangis siot, touching siot
2) Kenangan Bersama Mu...
3) lagu jiwang karatz yang aku menyampah - Pada Syurga Di Wajah Mu...

Wah sey...Nash... dah berumur, rambut dah pendek, dah keja ngan gomen Msia..hehehe.. tapi still showmanship and suara best. Cakap pun hormat, lembut..AKu suka sey si Nash ni...

Then lepas tu, Guitar Showcase...
Kruger nye gitaris, lagi satu aku tak kenal ngan Lovehunters nye gitaris baru smua main instrumental la...pakai gitar tong ngan errr apa arabic tu Gambus or something aku tak tahu nama....

Then JAMAICA CAFE...

ni seeing is believing...nanti aku ceta.... nak tukar cd, aku ngah buat benda lain la, so takde keja aku type kat sini...
Korang tahu Wak kang si JAMAICA CAFE ni... perform lagu

Teratai ( Sweet Charity ) guna style acapella...punya style......

dah tu...lagu habis, dorang kenal2 kan diri....
korang tahu dorang perform guna mulut , buat muzik dangdut, lepas tu nyanyi Bengawan Solo sikit...betul2 pandai2 sey budak2 ni

Then dorang nyanyi lagu

Gemilang ( Ella ).....kena lak lelaki nyanyi, betul berbakat la these 6 guys, aku impressed ngan Jamaica Cafe ni.

Lepas tu Rafaat lagi..Opera Act 4...sambung ceta dia, kena giat ngan audience, dia kutuk audience, very fun

Then Lovehunters, Unwanted, Zoul punya vokalis smua keluar balik...
Diri together and sing these songs

1) Kamelia ( Sweet Charity )
2) Memori ( Rockers ), ni memang si yang tadi pakai Ceti mamak punya sarong tu, dia pegi liriks salah...siot!!! Lagu ni kan lagu keramat DIa gi sebut " dapat ku rasakan kehangatannya " instead of " ketenangan "
walaupun satu je salah, tapi siot.........cilaka

3) Srikandi Cintaku ( Bloodshed ) ni zoul nyanyi solo, tapi Hanafie Warren sudah bukak step joget lepaks
4) Hilang Gelap Timbul Terang ( Sweet Charity ), waw!!! this song dorang rearranged balik, guna strings guna choir....very nice....

THen lepas tu...

Korang tahu lagu Search??

FANTASIA BULAN MADU?? kan lagu ni sedap kan......

Korang just imagin, Jamaica Cafe, si budak 6 orang ni ,perform this song pakai acapella, then dorang modify sikit... punya la best...
Aku rasa nak carik more info pasal ni Jamaica Cafe la....

Then lepas tu Rafaat perform his opera act for last time, before he starts, one of the guitarist, aku tak perasan sapa, dah main intro Gates Of Babylon ( lagu Rainbow )... adoi....punye best....

Then Rafaat punye story ending best la, happy ending, orang melayu become rock artist, tapi dia tak lupa asal usul dia , hormat orang tua, all that la , kira positive message la dia kasi kat audience...

Dia punya speech ending wa suka.... gini macam...

" TAKKAN MELAYU HILANG DI DUNIA!!!..

sama macam dengan............. ROCK NEVER DIE !!!!!! "

Terus lepas tu ada la, main cam percussion la joget silat or apa la, kejap satu minit gitu...

Terus Zoul nyanyi lagu Belerang Merah ( theme song for the Rock Opera Concert )...

Hah lepas tu final song for the night....

aku kalo nampak orang terover masa rock concert biasa la, tapi kalo makcik2 terover?

so everyone involve keluar stage...

So dorang start play lagu ...

SAMBUTLAH KASIH KU - Lovehunters...

So since its Lovehunters song, Yazid nyanyi la, lain smua chorus...

korang tahu....smua orang join in....Makcik2 smua tahu liriks la...smua diri, aku lagi ngan kawan lagi ngah duk lepaks... terkejut sey aku...

Very happening, then lagu tu cam dorang drag la, dah habis....boleh masuk balik lagi skali and paling best pasal smua orang nyanyi..
AKu tak nyanyi..., pasal aku tak mau suara aku masuk rekoding aku hehehee.... Tapi orang sekeliling smua suara masuk la...

Then thats it...the end...Keluar theater, punya ramai orang.....
Malays from all backgrounds la.. Mat Rock, Minah Dakwah, Pakcik2, Makcik2, Nenek2, budak2 kecik, Abang2 lobang, Mat smart, minah rockers...
Smua ada...

then kat luar tunggu kawan aku yang terpelanting tingkat tiga jumpa Iskandar Mirza Ismail , waah...dia senyum aje, then tanya kita, best tak?? best!! dia nak gi autograph session la,

End of the show is 11.40 gitu....

Waw!!!! aku ingat show dua jam aje tapi 3hr plus...

Worth it la, sapa2 nak pegi, tak jadi pegi, next time pegi..Its good clean fun. Takde riot, takde rejam botol hehehehe, takde orang hisap rokok kuang kuang kuang..
MP Maliki tu ada, then all those sort of distinguished people pasal aku nengok ada those Orang2 Puteh gitu...Mungkin those professor Expert Malay Language smua ada....

Lain kali buat, aku mesti gi, skarang aku dah tahu design seating esplanade theater...hehehee ....

Err...sapa nak lagu apa, bilang aku...Aku ada errr the whole raka...... opsss..

Category:Music
Genre: Hard Rock & Metal
Artist:Search
This review was first written for the wonderful sub board back then...

Fii..Wiittt!!!

review aku pegi nengok Search live in stadium larkin 5 Jun 04.

tiket aku dah beli dah seminggu ah, takut last minit sold out.
kul 4,30 jumpa member aku kat Kranji mrt.lepas tu naik 170 sampai kastam
spore. clear kastam, Q bas semua panjang,
so kita jalan kaki seberang causeway..Kastam JB tak jem , nasib baik. lepas tu pegi Komtar makan sandwich Subway.
lepas makan, patah balik kastam jb naik 170.sampai larkin terminal. Malas nak jalan gi stadium, jadi naik teksi, 3rm.

Sampai, pegi entrance 45rm punya, tengok ada jual tshirt "live in JB", so tangkap sehelai, 15rm.
Aku tengok ramai orang pakai tshirt tu dah..
yang ada pakai tshirt "live in KL', lagi lawa ah "KL" punya design.Sapa ada extra? jual aku boleh? hehehe.
So masuk ikut entrance grandstand, ramai jugak orang lepak2 kat grandstand, tapi aku ngan member aku terus turun padang... tak ramai orang lagik..
pentas dia besar wooo...kiri kanan pentas ada giant screen dua..
video kamera punya staging aku nengok ada dua ah...
40 meter dari pentas tu ada buat cam pagar sementara gitu, untuk asingkan tiket2 28rm.

terus diri2 tengok2 sana sini, lampu padam...dah makin ramai orang ah...
Stage crew asyik test lampu je... tak habis2.. sampai kena kutuk ngan budak2!!
Light show tak cantik takpe, tapi sound mesti kena bagus beb.
Janji 8.30 start, takde apa2 pun, speaker asyik main arabic dance music je...
sampai satu jam diri je la tunggu, nasib baik kameraman zoom kat peminat2 ah...jadi kita semua nampak kat giant screen.
sapa2 yang tengah skandal dua2an kat grandstand teruk ah kena sorak...
Abang2 polis pun kena zoom jugak wakakaka!!
Ada jugak peminat2 pekik2 buat lawak, so terhibur sikit..
So makin lama dah makin resah ah, semua orang dah tahap boring...
Aku rasa tiket 45rm tu jam dah mungkin lebih 3 ribu penonton ada ah. Ada jugak pakcik makcik aku nengok, dorang
cool je diri kat belakang..
Tiket 28rm lagi ramai ah...sampai kat galeri duduk pun ramai. Ni malam mungkin peminat lebih 10 ribu at least.

So 9.25 lagu arab dance music stop.. ada stage crew pegi kat micropon,
" anda dah sedia? bla bla bla Search balik kampung bla bla..." dia intro sikit..
terus start video klip kat screen...
cam mtv video ah...footage perang ww2, sojer german baris, ww2 punya fighter aircrafts tengah 'aces high"
tapi bukan lagu omputeh, lagu swedish ke apa aku tak tahu...aku tahu lirik ada sebut "val halla" je.

9.30 So Search pun on stage...start...terus perasan cam dari belakang ada serbuan ramai2 semua asak2 pegi depan...
Suasana havoc terus ah...berhimpit2...
Aku rasa aku dalam lapisan ke 20 dari depan stage tapi dah padat ah, Ramai dah start headbang..
Amy pakai seluar ketat merah, singlet putih, luar baju long sleeve corak putih.
Lain semua pakai warna gelap/black.
Dari arah pandangan peminat, posisi Kid sebelah kanan, Din sebelah kiri, Yazid selalu diri sebelah Din, keybodman belakang Kid,
siap ada riser sendiri sama tinggi ngan riser Lola.

so ni setlist dia...

1) Pelesit Kota - aku rasa ni malam special, pasal aku dah bukan kat depan, mungkin lapisan 20 dah dari depan tapi semua orang keliling
tengah rocking, so boleh dikatakan tu malam semua fans Search turun ah... semua tahu apa nak buat hehehe.
Lagu ni cam vcd "live in KL', Search stop kat tengah ,Amy kasi "feewiittt!!" maut satu,... baru terus sambung lagu balik.

2) Pawana - . kalo starting first two songs dorang dah bawak lagu2 cam gini dah terang ni malam
mesti best.... Amy dah tak payah nyanyi ah... stadium dah nyanyi untuk dia.

Lagu habis... Amy kasi speech - "bla bla bla...tahun 1981 kami berhijrah ke KL, bla bla bla, malam ni,
SEARCH BALIK KAMPUNG OK!!!!!!!" ( cue stadium: loud cheers ) " JB bandar rock n roll ok!!!" ( lagi loud cheers )

3) Gadisku - baru masuk 1st chorus Amy dah releks, hulur mikropon kat penonton je, tolong nyanyikan.
Ni ialah feveret moment aku ah!! Search kalo main lagu ni lima kali ulang2 pun aku tak kesah hehehe.

4) Gelora Cintaku - wooo tak sangka dorang main lagu ni.. Ni macam punya setlist ah aku suka,
Semua lagu old timer... Real ah peminat2, aku rasa semua orang tahu liriks keliling aku.. nyanyi sama2.

5) Balada Pemuzik Jalanan - power ah dorang main ni lagu, macam double trouble II.
"jeritan! akordian TUA!! merayap di udara!!!" happy ah aku!!

6) Langit dan Bumi - adoooii wa bleh pengsan.. Tiap tiap lagu berturut2 semua feveret wa...
So cam biasa, satu stadium sing along. " ku dongak ke langit, aku tunduk ke bumi " klasik habis.

Lagu habis - Amy speech lagik - " bla bla bla, timakasey terutama pada peminat2 baru... yang baru kenal Search.
Dulu mak bapak mereka dengar Search, sekarang anak2 mereka pula" hehehe lawak ah part ni!!
lepas tu "bla bla bla konsert kedua selepas KL,Selepas ni kami akan sambung konsert satu Malaysia, Dan kami nak tengok negeri mana yang kasi sambutan paling hangat..
Jadi negeri yang
paling sambutan hangat, dipilih jadi negeri pembukaan bagi konsert "EMPIRE GARDEN" tahun depan."

7) Isabella - Lagu lembab boring dah mari, baru aku bleh relaks sikit... Peminat2 semua singalong siap lighter,
aku tak minat ah lagu jiwang ni so keluar pen & paper tulis setlist ni, takut lupa.. tulis cakar ayam dalam gelap hehe.

8) Meniti Titian Usang.. Tak silap aku masa intro lagu ni budak sebelah aku dah pekik ELLA!!
baru aku cam, intro dia nak sama ngan intro lagu "sembilu " hehehe..
Lagu ni feveret wooo. Singalong lagik...so far 8 lagu semua lagu old timer.
Part korus semua stadium yang nyanyi, Amy relaks hulur mikropon je.
Last part, pekik2 tu, Amy masih maintain seyyy, aku tak tahu apa "mesin" dia pakai atas stage, tapi dia pekik2 masih power
cam dalam album dulu2 tu..

9) Melastik ke Bintang.. woo semua suka..ramai dah lompat2, tapi best ah, walau cam sardin, tapi semua body movement
tak sampai kasi orang keliling problem..Just nice ah... Ada dah headbanging kecoh ah. Tapi dorang sama dorang, tak
kacau sapa2 hehehe.
Aku tak tahu lirik so diam, tengok2 je.

10) Menara kesesatan- lagi satu laju punya...so semua orang happy hehehe.

bersambung.....
sambungan....

11) Mat Rock - lagi satu lagu aku tak sangka dorang main... Unsangkarable!!!

Lagu habis - Amy speech lagik, "Orang kata kita tak betul, tapi agaknya mereka yang tak betul ( cue - satu stadium
sorak kuat gile)." bla bla bla , kerja keras dalam apa bidang anda mahu bla bla
jadi lawyer, jadi orang berjaya, respek ah Amy kasi nasihat pasal memang
ramai budak2 umur sekolah lagik dikalangan penonton, bla bla bla, pada malam ni, saya ada seorang tetamu yang beri saya semangat bla bla bla,"
( terus satu stadium, ramai dah pekik " nabilla, nabilla!! lawak ah, semua pekik2 nama nabilla )
"Dan tetamu tu ialah mak saya, dia duduk di grandstand , harap mak saya gembira malam ni" ( cue - satu stadium loud cheers ).
"Macam2 orang datang malam ni, orang KL, orang Trengganu, Orang Singapura, mungkin ada tak orang Indonesia?"
Aku tahu ada jugak orang Spore datang, aku jumpa budak sekolah aku zaman dulu, member aku pun kena tegur ngan satu budak zaman
sekolah dia. Masa balik kat kastam pun nampak lagik empat orang pakai tshirt Search. Lepas show, kat luar kereta parking banyak
pun ada nampak jugak satu dua plate Spore.

12) Cakap Memang Murah - ni lagu album Double Trouble 1st .. ramai jugak tahu liriks... kecoh ah masa ni lagu , maklum lagu laju..

Ada mamat belakang aku asyik pekik , " malam!! " malam!! ", request lagu hehehehe!!

13) Isi dan Kulit - feveret semua orang ah!!Intro dia ada nasik tambah ah "yey! yey! yey! antara Amy ngan stadium.

14) Kejora - nak apa lagik ah... every song ni malam killer!! Cam biasa, satu stadium jadi vokalis.

15) Rozana - siot ah, ni malam patut buat rakaman, lepas tu jual as live album. Mesti orang beli.

lagu habis , stage gelap, video skrin main rakaman upacara agama Hindu kat Bali, yang cam dikir barat tu...
power ah selingan cam gini, kira intro next song, tapi tarik minat semua orang!!

16) Di Pintu Sepi - Best ah,,, lagik satu feveret yang dorang main ni malam. Cam double trouble II.

17) Emmanuel - aku tak ingat lirik, so relaks kejap, tulis2 lagik setlist takut lupa..

18) Pasti -
Lagu ni start je, apa aku nampak semua keliling aku dah naik sheikh dah, kepala turun naik!!
bila part korus,
Amy nyanyi, " kau lah mentari"
Stadium pulak balas, " AKU REMBULAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
rock seyyy!!

Lagu tamat.
Search ke backstage. So semua relaks, cool down, tunggu encore.
Search naik stage balik, Amy intro sikit, terus -

19) Fantasia Bulan Madu - versi elektrik...semua gitar karen.

lagu habis. Stadium ramai2, " lagi satu!! lagi satu!!, lagi satu!!"

so Search bual2 sesama sediri, so Amy cakap " ...lagi satu lagu " ( cue stadium loud cheers )

20) Bencana - lagu ni aku dah tak konsentret, dah tak nengok pentas pun pasal aku tengah taruk tangan atas kepala...
korang bayangkan la, dah beribu2 asak kat depan tu, ramai budak2 lambung botol mineral water kat langit
buang botol mineral dari satu hujung pegi satu hujung, meriah betul la, tapi dangerous wooo...ada dah duduk menyankung takut kena.
ada botol kosong, ada botol isi air tapi dah bukak tudung botol,so kalo kena pun basah je tapi,
ada botol belum bukak seal pun dorang campak2, lambung tinggi2...kena kepala sakit woo...
BUdak sebelah aku kena kat kepala, botol full, terus pungut bukak minum...lawak habis aku nengok!
Aku jaga punya jaga pun kena kat kepala, keletuk!!...botol kosong. siot betul! hehehe.

11.30 - terus lagu habis, Search thank you, Search pun backstage.
Search main dua jam genap. 20 lagu penuh!
Kita pun start beredar...lampu semua diterangkan terus aku nampak benda lawak ah...

Pagar asingkan tiket mahal/murah dah roboh, ni bukan roboh jatuh je, tapi dah siap macam scenario perang,
kemek2, semua...mesti kena asak dahsyat punya..!! kelakar aku nengok!! Harap takde orang cedera.
Aku rasa show start je semua merusuh ke depan, tu pasal tiba2 semua padat je... Lagi best lah, konsert rock buat2
partition tiket ni tak best... True fans mesti kat depan, bukan pasal sapa bayar lebih sapa bayar kurang.

so keluar stadium, menapak nak gi Larkin terminal..terus jalan sikit, aku ngan member aku pikir naik teksi terus sampai kastam lagik baik...so jumpa teksi, pegi kastam , 5rm.

So sampai kastam, cop paspot, naik 170, pegi Spore cekpoint, clear fast game punya, naik 170 lagik
sampai Queen St... dah satu lebih, bas biasa semua dah tak lalu, dah habis servis,
aku tunggu night service NR7, malang betul!! Saturday night, semua lalu asyik penuh!!
so at last kena naik teksi... terkopak duit wa.

Zaman rock gini dah takde lagik la...semua dah habis lama dah, tapi semalam betul2 punya kembalikan zaman dulu2 tu.
Majoriti lagu semua dari album 1st, 2nd dan 3rd. zaman gemilang rok melayu!

Search, semalam korang best, setlist macam gini la hebat, takde hegeh2 tangkap sedih, takde medley2 setengah masak!!
Gadisku & Pawana korang main awal sangat... tukar taruk closing la.........
Isabella korang kasi drop boleh? lembab sangat, ganti ngan Gadis Misteri atau Mentari Merah Di Ufuk Timur hehehe.
Pembakar Perasaan pun alrite jugak kalo masuk setlist. Mesti gempak punya.
Kalo korang turun Spore untuk ni reunion tour, aku pergi lagik ok!! Tapi tiket tak mau mahal sangat lah!!

the end.

My 3rd Deep Purple show, and my 3rd submission to thehighwaystar.com.
The weather was kind but humid.
There was better control of entry to the venue this time, and the ticket ushers allowed us to go in at around 6.40pm. Coming early, me and friend managed to find a place on the front of the field against the railings dividing us from the VIP area. There were two types of tickets on sale this year. The VIP ones costing S$160 and the peasant ones costing S$55. But, the VIP enclosure was small and so the peasants like us who came early managed to get very near to the stage and settle down on the grass.
Very nice and friendly atmosphere, especially since its a Saturday night, and everyone basically settle down well on the sloping field. By 7.50pm basically the whole field was full. It's as near to sold out as possible. Estimate of 7000 fans from all ages, teenagers to the veterans, all ethnic groups representing the Asia community, I even notice a couple bringing their little boy of about five in the VIP area, but fortunately it seems he's wearing ear plugs.

7.55pm - 8.20pm - The first opening band of the night, SingleTrackMind, during the introduction, we were informed they are made up of Malaysian and American musicians.
My feeling is, their music is more suitable to open for Michael Learns To Rock [Oi! Danish editor takes offense! ;^) Rasmus], and their music competing on the radio with Black Eye Peas and the likes. The singer is trying too much to sound and pose like a Jon Bon Jovi, and he did the most unoriginal thing. Remember Rod Stewart displaying his football skills and kicking footballs to the crowd? Well, this guy did it too, unfortunately, he should practise his kicks more, if he wants to continue doing this act. Not much positives to write about this band, and the boos and a loud yells of "bullshit" from someone in the crowd sums it up real well for SingleTrackMind.

8.25pm - 8.50pm - Second opener by someone named Riki Hendrix, a 2nd cousin to Jimi Hendrix. This guy and his backing band gets a warm response from the crowd, because he knows he's there as an opening act, less talk, getting the crowd on his side by saying he is a huge fan of Deep Purple too and we are there to see Deep Purple. He just let his music do the talking. Very energetic and moving around the stage displaying good showmanship which pleased the crowd. A nice moment when he played some solos to the tune of Star Spangled Banner and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

9pm - The band we came to see appears. Ian Gillan was again wearing that very nice traditional looking clothes, and barefoot.
Silver Tongue - Nice opener, the band looks so relaxed, though it seems not much of the crowd knows this track.
Woman From Tokyo - Only into the 2nd song and the greatests hits are already spilling out, the crowd laps it up. Ian introduce this song as something about one of his old girlfriends. Moments into the song, Ian Paice drops his left drum stick but managed to pick up a new one without any noticeable miss of beat.
I Got Your Number - Another new track and it shows how easily the Bananas songs slot into the set. Again introduced as a song written for another of Ian's girlfriends which made the crowd laugh. It sounds fantastic and the slow portion at the middle of the song was sung by Ian very well.
Strange Kind Of Woman - They didn't play this track on the last tour here, so it's nice to hear it. The few days rest before this show seems to have an impact on the band, they are smiling a lot, and Ian voice is fantastic so far.
Bananas - I guess by the end of this song, many in the crowd are already thinking of checking out the new album, if they haven't done it. Another good live song, with a lot of chances to sing along, if you know the words.
Knocking At Your Back Door - By this time, Deep Purple has been really entertaining, full of energy that leaves the crowd breathless. And when Don Airey starts that magical intro to this song, the war has been won. Many in the crowd remembers this samurai classic, and Ian Gillan should not have bothered to sing the chorus as the crowd is doing it for him.
With Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming not played tonight, I smiled widest and sing loudest on this track.
Contact Lost / Steve Solo / Well Dressed Guitar - Ian introduced the two instrumentals by first saying how they wrote Well Dressed Guitar for some award show, which unfortunately they did not win after the judges saw their band photo. LOL! But he also hightlighted the tragedy of the Space Shuttle Columbia and the impact it has on the band who plays a part in that mission. Basically, the instrumentals and solos give the crowd a chance for a breather. Wonderful stage light show during Contact Lose. I love it.
Don Airey gets the spotlight next with his solos... A fantastic rendition of the Star Wars tune, and again a lovely surprise. A short instrumental of the old Malay folk song "Rasa Sayang", which he also played on the last tour.
Perfect Strangers - What a song, what a response from the crowd. Arguably one of the most popular tracks since the 1984 reunion.
Highway Star - When Ian Paice starts his drum pattern for this, the roar of the crowd is immediate, it's time for some loud singalong session. The crowd is really into it, but something strange happens. During the second solo, a roadie walks over to Roger Glover to inform him about something and after Steve Morse does that famous melodic solo riffs, but the band suddenly stops playing except Ian Paice who immediately proceeds to do a drum solo. After a bit he throws his drumsticks into the air and the band leaves the stage without saying anything.
The crowd is unsure of what's going on. We realise the stage crew is working on some equipments on Roger's side of the stage. It takes another 10 minutes before the restlessness and shouts from the crowd are settled when a roadie came to the mic, and informed that some transformers were damaged.
After 20 minutes of agony, with the least worry being that Deep Purple may cut short their set, or worse still, stop their show, the band appeared. Ian Gillan apologised to the crowd, saying that the problems have been solved though the sound may be different due to changes in the channelling or something.
A concern during this time was a few childsize beer can-shaped rubber balls that were being thrown around. And a few of them were thrown to the stage by the fans on the VIP area. It's nice to see Steve Morse joking with one, as if he's opening the huge rubber can and drinking it, but I worry that the balls can easily hit and damage or topple over Ian Paice's drums. Fortunately, the band's crew was alert and removed the balls without returning it to the crowd.
Highway Star was not replayed which would have been nice, but the band moves on the next track.
Doing It Tonight - A song that is really groovy, and won't seems out of place in a dance floor atmosphere. Fantastic.
House Of Pain - Another song from the new album. Six new tracks played tonight and this proves that Deep Purple is ever moving forward and not relying on old glories. Unfortunately, no Pictures of Home. Again.
Lazy - The instrumental at the start gives the crowd another breather. Especially those whose been singing along. This song always give a chance for anyone to move around a bit.
When A Blind Man Cries - A ballad that everyone knows. The singalong is intense, and some lighters are held aloft. I always prefer if Deep Purple replaced this song with some other slow tracks like SIFLS or better still Wasted Sunset or some new slower numbers from Bananas.
Space Truckin' - A favourite of my friend who was with me, and I am sure this song puts a lot of smiles for the older fans. Another loud singalong on the chorus. Ian Paice did a short solo on this number.
Smoke on the Water - A song that gets the loudest cheers, the loudest singalong, everyone is raising their hands in the air. The band allowed the crowd to sing some extra chorus on the end of the song. Always a highlight when this song is played. Afterwards the band thanks the crowd and leaves.
Hush - The crowd really let it rip on the 'na na na's of this track. A crowd favourite.
Ian Paice and Roger then played some short jams, and Ian Gillan proceed to sing Hit The Road Jack.
Black Night - Just as the song begins, it's fantastic that the crowd knows what song it is and jumps straight in to singalong to the melody line. Every time the melody line appeared was a chance for some final round of loud singalongs that is really incredible for a Singapore crowd. Another big highlight of this show.
That's it, the show ended at 11.15pm. Over two hours of Deep Purple live.
I think this is the best of the three shows that I have seen them since 2001. They just keep surprising people with their live show and showmanship when we keep talking about how their age might affect their performance.
With new albums being made, many new songs being introduced to the live set, proof that Deep Purple is not a nostalgia act. It may be a letdown when some of our favourite DP tracks are not played, but to hear new music at these shows make Deep Purple as relevant today as they were since their beginning.
Will Deep Purple come again to Singapore? I hope so. The size and response of the crowd should give Deep Purple the idea of the level of support for them in this island.
Ian Gillan in his "I thaaaaaank you's" did say he hopes to see us again and how fantastic and wonderful we have been. Though I think he says that at every gig.
I wish Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse and Don Airey the very best of health so that they can continue to tour and come back and play for us again.
Thank you to LAMC Productions for bringing in this band and letting 7000 people have a memorable evening which will be remembered. It was a really enjoyable evening, and most importantly, the ticket prices were very affordable.
To those who have yet to see Deep Purple plays on this tour, please do so when they come to your area. They are awesome.

I first wrote this for highwaystar after the show.

setlist - below

Last year, I took a 300+km bus trip to see them in Sepang, Malaysia. This time, they dropped by in Singapore and what a gig it was. Held at Fort Canning, an outdoor event in an open park facing a huge old colonial style building. There was no seating arrangement and it was on a first come first serve basis to get nearest to the stage. No seats in sight.

The show was supposed to start at 8pm but by 5.30pm, about 50+ of us were already there. Some huge blunder by the ticket usher guys happened here. We were already let in, had already settled down on the grass in front of the stage and WALA!! We were chased out of the gig area by the security. They say we can only come in again at 7pm. Hope the organisers take note and don't repeat this in the future.

By 8pm, the place was cramped. Besides us men in the 30s, 40s and 50s, it's nice to see a lot of teens with NSync image and also mature ladies in headscarves. Guess they were the big fans since back in the 70s. Local newspaper report the crowd as 7000+, I cant estimate as its in an open sloping field but definitely a near to a sold out gig.

Purple was late, there was no opening band, the speakers were blasting some MTV rock standards like Bon Jovi and Santana. At 8.20pm, Purple came on stage. I was on Steve's side of the stage and found his biceps muscles a bit bigger now. Ian was in a light cream shirt and pants which looks traditional Indian style and no shoes.

The crowd went wild and here it goes -
1. Woman From Tokyo – They look very relax, smiling and fooling around from song one. Guess playing in Asia is sort of of a breather for them compared to the Donningtons and Madison Square Gardens of Europe and America. These heroes can have the most horrible gig with the worst sound and we would still be cheering them on. Beggars can't be choosers.
2. Ted The Mechanic – Steve let it rip on this one. Heavy riffs.
3. Mary Long – Funny for me when some 'fans' in the crowd shouting that it is Purple's brand new song.
4. Lazy – Don Airey shows his stuff before the song begin. Very loud cheers from the crowd for him. We will always love Jon Lord, but just like Steve Morse, I do hope Don brings in a refreshing and exciting pair of legs to Purple.
5. The Aviator – Ian and Steve sits on the floor cross-legged and Roger kneels. Cool song. Can't wait to hear how it sounds on a studio album.
6. No One Came - Crowd "nodding donkey blues" to this one. Up The Irons.
7. Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming – When Ian introduce the song about being in a Spanish hotel, I got mixed feelings. Sad because I know they won't play Child In Time tonight and I guess I will never see Purple play this song live ever, but at the same time happy as SIFLS is definitely my favorite Purple song after the 1984 reunion. I sung loudest, jumped highest and smiled widest thru this song.
8. Well Dressed Guitar – Ian asked his normal question. "Should this song be on the next album?" Like the rest of the world, we roared YES!!
9. Fools – Another song the 'true Purple fans' in the crowd identify as a new one. During Steve's improvisation, Roger played maracas. Check him out when they play this song in your part of the world.
10. Perfect Strangers – After Don played the Indonesian Anthem in Jakarta on the intro of PS, I was hoping for a surprise here. And what a nice one it was. He played an old Malay traditional folk song "Rasa Sayang". Love it. The crowd was really into PS, we sung it with Ian all the way.
11. When A Blind Man Cries – And the crowd cries with him, again we sang with Ian all the way. Beautiful meaningful song. What about replacing WABMC with Wasted Sunset next tour guys?
12. Guitar Parade/Smoke on the Water – Ah!! The pop hit!! And the NSYNC crowd does some great vocals on this one. But again, Steve steals the show with his riff-raffs which was well received by the crowd. I mean those who can identify the riffs that is. AC/DCs' Back In Black, Beatles' Strawberry Fields, GNRs' Sweet Child O Mine, Dire Straits' Money For Nothing, Led Zeps' Stairway to Heaven solo among others. Somewhere near to the end of the song, Steve and Roger swap instruments and at the end Roger walks to Steve side and pretend to swap guitars with Steve's guitar tech. They can't retire because it seems they are having so much fun on stage. Wish I had a camera because seeing Steve with a bass and Roger with a guitar is the best Kodak moment of the whole gig.
13. Speed King – The sound was not too clear on this one. But still, Roger and Ian does their stuffs, Ian's drum solo was amazing and loud was the cheers for him. Near end of the solo, he pretends to collapse to his right from tiredness, but continue his now famous 'one arm solo'. Ian G came from behind him to lovingly wipe the perspiration from Ian Paice's face and has us cheering away. During the 60's jam, they play Elvis' It's Now Or Never, High School Hop and some other oldie.

Encore:
14. Hush – Ian should have taken a breather during the Na-na-na parts cause the crowd are loud on this one.
15. Black Night – Fantastic!! A super classic!! We roared the Na-na-nas and Steve has his guitar battle with the crowd on this one. Same like the Olympia 96 version but a bit longer, they let us have some extra Na-na-nas. Thanks guys.
16. Highway Star – The show's got to end and what a better way to end it than HS. Steve is wonderful on that famous Ritchie solo. A perfect song to end a great gig.

IMHO, many in the crowd are not really constant Purple listeners. Many of the them, the NSync image guys I mean, were rocking along but I guess they don't really have a clue on many of the Purple songs and it's a bit sad because Purple are playing their more popular songs. It would have been nice if the Purple constant listeners and fans be nearer to the stage and the 'don't have a clue' poseurs be a bit behind.

Some guys were screaming for Burn and I think many of us will forever dream Purple play that song live again. Maybe during some Purple family reunion gig some day. Thanks to the organisers and promoters for bringing Purple to Singapore.

My deepest respect for Purple as they constantly include many parts of Asia (not just Japan) on their tours. If only other heavy rock bands does it. It's not that difficult a trip, just drop by on the Australia – Japan leg.

To sum it up, Purple really entertained us and they are one of my favourite all time bands. Best wishes to them, and hopefully Ian Paice, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Steve Morse, Jon Lord and Don Airey be in good health always.

I first submitted this review for highwaystar.com after the show.

Set list:
"Woman From Tokyo"
"Ted The Mechanic"
"Mary Long"
"Lazy"
"No One Came"
"Black Night"
"Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming"
"Fools"
"Perfect Strangers"
"Hey Cisco"
"When A Blind Man Cries"
"Smoke On The Water"
"Speed King"
encores:
"Hush"
"Highway Star"

What a show. Definitely worth the approx. 400 km trip from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, Sepang, Malaysia.

Observations from being squeezed to the front row barrier opposite Mr Steve Morse.

1) Ian was wearing a Hawaiian shirt with khaki coloured knee length pants. He was shoeless. He later mentioned that it is the first time he's wearing the pants and doesnt know that the pockets was so deep. He was trying to dig out something, I dont know.

2) By the 3rd song, Ian was perspiring like hell. Remember, this is an open air gig and the humidity is intolerable to the guys I guess. Sweat was dripping like rain water from his pants, hahahaha.

3) Cockroach!!!! What looks like a cockcroach flies onto Ian's arm during "Ted The Mechanic", the second song, the instrumental section. It was hillarious looking at Ian having a gross look and stuggling to flip the insect away while wriggling about. After the cockroach had flied away, Ian turns to Jon and make a gesture as if he is eating the bug. I was wondering what would had happen had Ian was singing during that moment. Hey!! Ian is human too!!!

That's about it I guess. Every Deep Purple show has its own special moments for those who are there. And Kuala Lumpur was no different.
